Where Can I View Christmas Lights on Alabama’s Lakes?

It’s often said that a day at the lake is better than a month in town, and that goes for Christmas lights as well! Many of the lakes in Lakefront Living’s market celebrate with amazing light shows, and even boat parades! On top of that, many locals, myself included, put up lights on our lake houses to help Santa find his way down our chimneys. If you find your way to our beautiful aquatic locales this holiday season, you can see some beautiful electric art at the following locations!

Neely Henry Lake

Neely Henry boasts several spots to see the Christmas sights as the city of Gadsden sits on either side of its shores along the Coosa River that feeds several of Alabama’s lakes. In Gadsden why not make a night of it and start at the Coosa Landing boardwalk? Have dinner at some of Gadsden’s great restaurants, hit the landing, then cruise downriver to

Coosa Landing

the incredible drive-through light display at Lights on the Landing at River Rocks Landing Campground. This peninsula is home to a world-class RV campground and breathtaking Christmas light displays! If traveling by boat this season, you can enjoy the lights for free at either location via the Coosa River!

River Rocks Landing Campground

On December 5th you can catch a boat parade at 6pm passing by Coosa Landing or again downriver in Rainbow City/Southside on December 6th at 6pm!

Lake Guntersville

The “Big G” as the locals know it is not only home to Alabama’s best bass fishing, but also mind-blowing holiday light displays! In this case we’re talking about two of our favorite things – boats and Christmas lights! At this year’s Guntersville Lights on the Lake, there’s no charge to participate but boaters are asked to register at guntersvillelightsonthelake.com. Participants will meet between Guntersville Marina and the city harbor, according to organizers. Boaters will start at the city harbor, circle the lower Guntersville light and have the option of continuing on to the state park. The parade will take place December 11th, at 4:30pm.

Lake Wheeler

The annual Parade of Lights will be December 14th at 6pm at Joe Wheeler State Park. Watch the parade from inside Daniella’s Restaurant, outside along the banks between the lodge and Marina, or from a lodge room balcony! This is one of the longest-running boat parades in the state!
