Where to Eat on Alabama’s Lakes?

With the weather finally starting to warm for Spring, lake lovers start longing for food close to the boat. This week we’re talking about great eats on beautiful Weiss Lake in northeast Alabama! While the restaurant scene around Weiss Lake is pretty laid back, we are fortunate to have some great lakeside dining options to choose from. Let’s eat!

First stop on Weiss Lake is Decks and Docks in Leesburg. Sitting on the bank overlooking the Coosa River, Decks and Docks is a regional favorite among boaters and bikers alike. From Wednesday through Sunday you can expect a packed parking lot full of topless Jeeps, motorcycles and a dock full of boats tied up waiting on their diners. Burgers, wings and fried shrimp are fan favorites at Decks and Docks, along with a full bar for whatever thirst you bring. This lake guru’s go to meal is the Hickory Fries – a heaping pile of french fries covered in barbecue, cheese sauce, and barbecue sauce. Technically an appetizer, the Hickory Fries are a meal in themselves. Another favorite is the Pontoon Nachos – a massive hubcap-sized plate of nachos piled with all the trimmings!

Another lakeside must-see is Jake’s on the Lake in Centre. Named for the trivia-loving owner, Jake’s is a true model of laid back lake living. Only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, get here early for a spot on the dock to tie your boat, and get ready for a great evening on the lake! From the outdoor bar and dining room to the cornhole games and live music, Jake’s is fantastic spot to watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand! My favorite is the tacos and Hawaiian sliders!

Make sure to stay tuned for more great lakeside joints as we cover the rest of Alabama’s amazing lakes!
